What day is it? Where am I? When was the last time I ate dinner in my own home or slept in my own bed? Wow. After a total of eight hours of drive time, eight days away from home, two different hotel rooms, two major meetings with EED, six days of ASTE responsibilities, two ASTE board meetings, and so many new ideas gained from speakers and sessions and professional conversations, I'm wiped...and I'm only halfway through the above-noted list!
The ELA team's progress has been slow but steady. Thanks to tons of extra effort on the parts of Jon and Nicole, I think we may finally be headed in the right direction. I'm so thankful for Nicole's experience creating and teaching online, and for Jon's assertiveness in making content decisions when I'm still trying to figure out how to navigate a group project like this with people I'm still getting to know. I am definitely the type of person who chooses to work independently when I can to avoid stepping on toes, so I have stood back a bit more than I should, perhaps, and let some decisions be made without much argument. As a content expert on the team, I don't feel like I have contributed as much as I could have, but I am pleased with the way the content pieces have come together...and I have learned so much about how an online course works when the modules must be independent of each other, AND when the folks designing the course are not only just beginning to work together as a team, but are also meeting for the first time!
